Subject: Proposed Changes to FWP Fee
Schedule

2009-2010.xls
Hi Mike;
As part of the FWAC's charge to seek
alternative revenue sources to make the park self-sustaining, it was felt that
the fee schedule for the various facilities should reviewed and adjustments made
before the rental scheduling window opens on December 1st for the 2010 season.
On September 16th, Dan Chase, Janet Hoskin, Pat Fowler and I met to review the
current fee schedule for the rental of facilities at Fort Williams
Park.
Pat Fowler, who coordinates most of
the reservations at Community Services gave us her feedback on the current
program, any issues that have arisen in the past year and what she felt would be
appropriate changes to propose. As a result of our meeting, we made some
recommendations that were approved by the Fort Williams Advisory Commission at
their meeting on October 15th. Listed below are the proposed modifications to
the rental fee schedule:
- A modest increase in the fees for
Cape Elizabeth residents. Approximately 30% of the paid rentals this past year
were Cape Elizabeth residents.
- Adjustments in the half-day rental
use, adding another hour for PM rentals to make them more
desirable.
- A reduced half day rental fee after
Labor Day weekend, to reflect the shorter hours of daylight during that time of
year.
- Switching to an hourly rental
system for the Bandstand and the Gazebo, since most of the rentals are
ceremonies and short term in nature.
- A $25.00 increase in the wedding
and partnership ceremony fee, with that fee being waived if the Picnic Shelter
is reserved in conjunction with the ceremony.
I have attached the proposed fee
schedule. We are asking this to be placed on the November Town Council agenda
for their consideration.
Sincerely;
Robert Malley, Director of Public Works
